Taking another break from work this year, Wes and I decided to treat ourselves to 6 days continuous cycling! To be honest, Wes wanted to go surfing (again!?! :) But I thought now that I was the upgraded wife model, I should be able to ask for a cycling holiday instead. It was a magnificent trip. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever made my body do, but not quite as hard as I expected it would be. I did think my lungs were going to burst on a few hilly occasions, but it was totally worth it for the scenery and just the all-round good feeling I get when I ride a bike. The tour group was full of lovely people as well, which was a bonus. If you’re interested, it was this trip. Here are a few highlights. Oh sorry, a few more than a few.

We have a local butcher on our street and we’ve taken to buying our chicken and fish (and amazingly tasty local strawberries!) from him just on the day we want to eat it. So we’re in there two or three times a week, but only spending 3-7 squids a time. We’d have to be his lowest-paying customers, seeing as how we don’t even eat meat! He even refers to Wes as ‘No Meat Man’. Anyway, we were in there yesterday for strawberries, chicken and eggs (1 pound for six huge free range eggs on the day they were laid!). He only takes cash, and after scraping together as many pennies as I could, we were still one pound short. Instead of putting my eggs back, he kindly offered to put it in ‘the book’. How’s that for country living? Feels weird being in debt to the butcher though!
