Ok, it’s cold
Feb 12th, 2009 by Stace
After the crazy snowfall in London, we got our share last week. And it’s all still there, because the temperature hasn’t been over zero, so the white stuff can’t melt. More keeps coming too, yesterday we had another beautiful sunny day, glorious big blue sky, it was really bright. But then it started snowing, most bizarre. I suppose we’ve had a light snowfall almost every day since last Wednesday.
Some people obviously can’t be bothered moving their cars, because there’s quite a few snowed under in the streets. Those that do brave the roads slip and slide, going off the road, wheels spinning, getting bogged, etc. Wes is one of those car drivers, luckily he’s a good driver, he’s learning fast – not using the brakes, trying not to stop especially on hills.
Meanwhile I’m on the footpaths and I’ve learned a few lessons as well. Even shoes I thought were quite grippy, are actually really slippy in the icy snow. The fresh stuff is mainly ok, but once it’s a day or two old, it gets an icy crust that’s like walking on a large wet ice cube. So I’ve dug the safety shoes out of the back corner of the cupboard. Wes has been laughing at me for the past two and a bit years, why on earth did you bring those things? You don’t work in safety anymore! But who’s laughing now?!! I am super fast in those things, walking at my regular pace while even locals are slipping all over the shop. Ha! I can even jog on ice in them! It’s a good idea to have a dedicated pair of ’snow shoes’ because the salt stuff they put down everywhere gets stuck to the shoes as well, it’s very strange.
Oh, one more thing, earmuffs are AMAZING!!
I forgot to mention how much snowflakes sting when they land on my eyeballs.

I really need pictures to this story. Please!
Hey Shell, I will upload a few white world shots when I get home, work’s firewall just blocked me! dammit.
Yea, I found that my Blunnies were good in the snow, especially breaking ice with the steel caps!
Great! I hear you’re forecast for a lot more snow today, I hope the runways stay clear!
It’s bloody cold in Orford too! We’ve got the fireplace on…bbrrrr…brrrr. I must be getting soft.
