First Rice Feeding Celebration
Jan 24th, 2009 by Stace
A couple of Fridays ago, Wes and I went to the evening celebration of Aarush’s first rice feeding. We missed the actual rice feeding ceremony, as the stars determined he should eat his first rice at 8.15am, but we went to the party at night. There are around 300 Nepalese ex-pats in Aberdeen, most of them working either at the hospitals or universities (that’s how we know Dev – Wes works with him at the uni). We enjoyed mingling with around 60 Nepalese, (there were only three English people there!) and finding out more about their culture. The food was great! Dev (Aarush’s dad) even dragged me up onto the dance floor for some traditional dancing. Don’t know how Wes managed to escape, but I think I held my own up there.
Here is Dev with his wife Ranju and their little boy Aarush, the man of the hour!
