The seriousness of it all

Ok, so Wes is living in our new 2 bedroom rental flat in Aberdeen, Scotland. I am living out of a backpack in Nick and Michelle’s spare room in Blackheath (near Greenwich). I am moving into the new Aberdeen flat on Saturday morning this week. Wes bought a car last weekend. We are exchanging our Queensland drivers licences for UK ones. Wes is applying to the Home Office to upgrade his ‘working holidaymaker’ visa to permanent residency. Yes it’s getting serious over here. And exciting - Scotland! There are so many things about London that we won’t miss: the tube, the quantity of people, the black soot in the nostrils, the 1 hours each way to work and back everyday. But in a way it has become home, so it’s sad to leave: my view of St Paul’s each day on my way to the office, the shopping (particularly in Covent Garden), the museums, the concerts, EAT, Joy (ok those two are probably just me, not Wes), the walk along the Thames around Embankment, the parks like Ravenscourt, Hyde Park (Pat – I found that one on google images! :), Greenwich, Turnham Green, Battersea, the view of Battersea Power Station, most importantly our friends and Wes’ soccer team.

So good to have clemmo back! I check every few days and it’s finally here again. So glad things are going forward, and I can even relate to some of your London memories! The black soot in the nose, urgh!
